Paddington Inn, Paddington

We had a quick bite to eat at Paddington Inn late one Monday evening. Inside it's rather hip with a modern chocolate brown colour scheme, bar stools, tables and predictably elusive plush booths.

The bistro area out the back features an open kitchen, enabling a bit of head chef plate-up action. We were so hungry though, that all this enabled was exaggerated drooling as we watched in anticipation.

Chargrilled sirloin steak with caramelised onion and red wine jus with a mixed leaf salad $20.00

Barramundi fillet on crisp polenta with roma tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette $18.00

I had the steak which was fair, I suppose. It probably could have done with a bit more resting and was a little more medium than medium-rare.

The barramundi tasted quite good, although the portion was rather small.

Still the place was packed and is obviously popular with locals. I wouldn't make a trek here specifically for the food, but the buzz here is pleasant enough.

Hi MrsT - It was pretty tasty. A little pricey, but then, this is Paddington.

Hi CherryRipe - Not my local, I'm afraid. But a nice enough pub for a bit of respite and recuperation.

Whoa, highway robbery. Looks like it should have been a $5 steak.
A little too char-grilled for my liking. The jig was up when they did not serve chips with the meal.
Barra looks delicious but I think I could have eaten the fish all in one bite.
It's only redemption is if you had washed this meal down with a $4 schewy.

Hi Veruca Salt - Three words - Welcome to Paddington! =)

You could actually choose salad, mash or fries with your steak. I was being psychotically healthy for some reason that night (I know, I know, please forgive me).

We had a side of fries instead. They were pretty good.
